On April 22, 1909, Father Francis Fabian was appointed pastor of the congregation by Archbishop John Farley of New York. By August 15, 1909, the first Mass was celebrated in a small chapel on Benkard Avenue.
In May of 1911, construction began on the main church and was completed on August 15, 1913.
Father Fabian designed the building and worked at laying bricks himself. The design is based on traditional European Basilicas. There are twin towers with copper domes, one of which houses three bronze bells.
The interior has beautiful Bavarian stained glass windows and a large mural behind the altar that was painted in Bavaria. The Tracker organ was built in 1862. It has 2600 pipes and two keyboards.
The interior was completely renovated in 2000. The church is located at 145 Benkard Avenue.
